Dr. James Muir is an implant dentist, educator, and mentor who has dedicated his career to helping patients regain confidence, function, and quality of life through advanced dental implant treatment.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Florida, Dr. Muir received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He then proudly served four years in the United States Navy, including two years working alongside oral surgeons, where he gained valuable surgical experience that helped shape the foundation of his implant career.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Muir has invested thousands of hours into advanced implant education, full-arch reconstruction, digital dentistry, and surgical innovation. He is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI) and serves as a mentor doctor for Implant Pathway, one of the nation’s leading dental implant education organizations, where he trains dentists from across the country in implant placement, immediate-load protocols, and digital full-arch workflows.
In addition to leading Dental Implants of Spring Hill, Dr. Muir is a co-owner and practicing surgeon at 24 Hour Smiles Tampa, where he performs advanced full-arch implant procedures and helps patients restore their smiles through same-day teeth solutions.
Dr. Muir has become known for his expertise in delivering Same-Day Teeth, allowing many patients to walk into the office with failing teeth and leave the very same day with a fixed, functional smile. By combining advanced surgical planning, digital smile design, guided surgery, and an in-house laboratory workflow, Dr. Muir and his team are able to provide a streamlined treatment experience that minimizes downtime while maximizing precision and comfort.
Unlike practices limited to a single treatment philosophy, Dr. Muir has trained extensively in five different full-arch implant approaches. This allows him to customize treatment based on each patient’s anatomy rather than forcing every patient into the same solution. His experience includes advanced techniques utilizing remote anchorage, which can often secure implants into stronger, healthier bone even in cases of significant bone loss. This expanded skill set frequently allows patients to avoid more invasive procedures and broadens treatment options for individuals who have been told they are not candidates elsewhere.
Since 2019, Dr. Muir has focused heavily on developing a fully digital implant workflow. Working closely with his laboratory team, he has refined a process that integrates CBCT imaging, intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM design, 3D printing, surgical guides, and zirconia prosthetic manufacturing into a highly predictable system.
As the founder of Florida 3-D Dental Lab, Dr. Muir collaborates directly with his lead designer and laboratory team to oversee every phase of treatment—from virtual surgical planning and smile design to the fabrication of the patient’s final prosthesis. This close integration between surgery and laboratory production helps ensure exceptional fit, esthetics, and long-term success.
While Dr. Muir is known for his technical expertise and advanced surgical training, patients often appreciate him most for his ability to listen, educate, and create personalized treatment plans. When he’s not treating patients, teaching other doctors, or developing new digital workflows, Dr. Muir enjoys spending time with his wife and two children in Florida.
